In the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, the requirements for sensing equipment go far beyond simple measurement accuracy. Sensors must be constructed from materials that are "hygienic," meaning they must have smooth surfaces to prevent bacterial growth and be made of non-toxic materials. Food-grade and medical-grade 316L Stainless Steel or Titanium sensors are specifically designed for these sectors. These sensors often feature polished surfaces and specialized gaskets that can withstand high-pressure washdowns (up to 10 bar) and extreme sterilization temperatures (up to 135°C).

The functionality of the single-channel controller is equally important in these regulated environments. It must accurately convert analog signals into conductivity, resistivity, and TDS to ensure that the water used in ingredient mixing or medicine formulation meets pharmacopeia standards. For instance, a sensor with a range of 0.05 to 20μS/cm is essential for validating the quality of "Water for Injection" (WFI). The controller’s ability to display salinity is also useful in food production for monitoring brine concentrations. By utilizing materials like ABS or PSS that meet medical safety standards, manufacturers can ensure that their sensors do not introduce any contaminants into the production line, maintaining the integrity of the final consumer product.
